September Gift Giving Opportunities

The month of September brings us Labor Day, Grandparent's Day, and Rosh Hashanah. These are great ocassions for gift giving.

But here's some little known unique and could be really fun holidays to give someone a gift.

September 5 - Cheese Pizza Day
September 9 - Teddy Bear Day
September 12 - National Video Games Day
September 19 - National Play Doh Day
September 22 - Elephant Appreciation Day
September 29 - Confucious Day

These are great for me because they cover several people in my family. My husband loves pizza, my son is a huge gamer, and my brother used to eat play doh. I can surprise each one of them with a little something on a day that's tailored just for them.

Giving gifts on holidays like this just might get you a reputation as being Gifty.

Video Games in the Comfort of Your...

Boom Chair Rocker from PerpetualKid.com

Oh yeah. It has got to be comfortable and puts the sound right where you are. This gaming necessity sports a 5" subwoofer and a 20" vibration pad... take that rocket launcher explosion or high-speed car crash to a whole new level.

I waited to buy a Playstation 2 until Gran Turismo 4 came out. That is still the only game I have for it. I've been addicted to GT since version 2 and absolutely love the physics and game play of 4. I always wanted, but still don't have, one of these gaming chairs.

So, for your video-game playing friends and family that need to step up the level of their gaming environment to totally immersive... the Boom Chair Rocker is just the thing.

Getting Ready for the Holidays

I know it's not even September yet and I'm talking about the holidays. It is never too early to start preparing. This year try something different, don't wait to the last minute to look for gift ideas. If you follow these few little tips you'll feel less stressed and I'll bet your gift choices will reflect it.

Start now by making a list of all the people you have to buy gifts for this holiday season. You can make a list on paper and use an online service that helps you find and keep track of gift ideas. Using both is a way to being a gifty person. Here's how...

Keep a notebook with you all the time. When you are out and about and you see something that you know, let's say your Aunt Betty, would love. Just write it down.

Now the online list is a way to keep it organized and all in one place. At FindGift.com we have Saved Gifts that works like a gift organizer. You can enter a list of people, i.e. Aunt Betty, and you can "save" gift ideas that you find on FindGift.com, another online store or the gift that you saw from the shop down the street you wrote in your notebook.

Now when it comes time to buy that holiday gift for Aunt Betty, you already have the ideas.

And guess what? This works all year long, for any holiday, occasion, "just because" gift ideas and for all the people on your gift giving list.

You have 118 days til Christmas, but Aunt Betty's Birthday is in November so...

Don't delay...Gift organize today!

Halloween Gift Idea for the Brave

The Tower of Terror Candy Assortment would have to be a gift for a brave soul and someone who likes to try new and different things. The tower is full of candy and sweet treats, but it's candy and sweet treats with a bit of a twist.

There's real flavored crickets, real seasoned larvets, and amber instectnside (a real scorpion inside). YUUUMMEEE! Then of course there is the normal stuff like, bug rope, Fear Factor bug sucker, Fear Factor gross out gummy pizza, and tangy tongue. And these are my favorites, stinky feet, pop rocks xtreme, and wax fangs.

Doesn't it all sound so good?

Okay, so I'm being sarcastic but I am sure that some little kids would think this stuff is totally cool! It would probably be a huge hit at a kids Halloween party.

Beth found this one, thanks!

A Baby Gift Idea...Repeat "Baby" Gift Idea

Personalized Pro or Collegiate Sport Security Blanket

So this is a security blanket, and what do babies do with security blankets? They hug it, they sleep with it, they take it with them everywhere. They pitch fits when you take it away to wash it and it takes a long time to try to get them to live without it. Once they are finally given up they are usually stored in a safe place as a keepsake for your mom to pull out and display at the most inopportune time, like your first date. Now you can get a security blanket with a football or baseball and personalized with your favorite sports team.

Now think about everything I just said ...does this sound familiar? Think about the sports fanatic in your life. They have a jersey or shirt with their favorite team, they have probably had it for years and it probably doesn't even fit anymore. It's faded and full of holes and probably has an odor because they pitch a fit when you've tried to wash it. They insist on keeping it and they will even wear, or try to wear it, at the most inopportune time, like out in public.

How much do you wanna bet, 20 years from now, we see grown men at sporting events with their Sport Security Blanket?

Anne does it again with this great gift idea.

Early Halloween Gift Ideas

I know Halloween is still about 2 months away but Anne thought this gift idea could be given for other things too.

For someone in the office who seems to have lost their mind, or for someone who just needs a new one the... Animated Crawling Brain could be the perfect gag gift. It hums along merrily then opens up and insane muttering comes from its mouth.

There is also the Creeping Hand, it could scare some unsuspecting soul.

Just thought I would throw some ideas out there to help get the creative juices flowing for the upcoming Halloween holiday.

What happens in Vegas...

stays in Vegas. Or so the saying goes.

If you know someone who is going to Vegas, send them off prepared for the fun with these gift ideas.

To help at the tables, Winning Poker for the Serious Player or Poker For Dummies DVD.

Look like the typical tourist with these, Las Vegas Luggage Tag, Las Vegas Light Up Cap, and the Fine Line Poker Adult T-Shirt. But don't get caught with your pants down! Especially if your wearing these boxers, Magic Poker Boxer Shorts, it could be a little embarrassing.

And to round it all out, if they have too many of these, Corona Extra Party Pack, they will probably need this after a couple of days, Hangover from Hell , or the Pink Hangover Recovery Kit . I say a couple of days because from what I hear you don't sleep the first couple of days you're there anyway.

Vegas...all the lights, all the glitter, all the fun!

This blog is dedicated to Z and his friend, TC, who is celebrating his 40th birthday in Vegas. Have fun!

America's Most Popular Accessory

According to the show "Project Runway" the most popular accessory right now is a dog. They did an episode where the designers had to design an outfit and their inspiration was a dog. They also had to design a matching outfit for the dog. They had breeds from Yorkies to the unique looking hairless dog (can't remember it's name).

So if you want to keep up with the trends, and have a stylin' accessory a must have is the perfect collar. You shouldn't have any trouble finding a collar that expresses yours and your dog's personality. There is the Preppy Pearl Pet Collar , Jeweled Dog Collar, Personalized Dog Collar Kit.

There is also the clothes for dogs. Collegiate Dog Jersey , Buzz Off Dog Jacket, Dog Gift for Small Dogs , Baby Cable Dog Sweater .

WARNING! WARNING! THE FOLLOWING PRODUCTS COULD CAUSE SCREEN SHOCK .

Here's just a couple more items that I am sure a select group of people would be interested in. The Pet Pop Lollipop Tree is a tree full of lollipops that you can put your dog's picture on. The Pet Pop Birth Announcement Set to announce the new addition to your family, and the Doggie Dish Chocolate Lollipop Arrangement for... well I can't think of a reason for this one but I'm sure someone else could. You must click over and check these gifts out, trust me!

Beth recommended these extravagant gift ideas for dogs. (She's a cat lover, think she was being sarcastic?) Thanks Beth!

Keeping Count When The Counting Gets Tough...

What better application for gadgets and technology is there than drinking? None. You are exactly right.

One muggy summer night while drinking with friends in a Florida garage a discussion came up about the best way to keep track of how many drinks you have had.

The worst suggestion was to carry around a Sharpie and mark yourself. That could only end in disaster.

The closest thing to a good suggestion was to keep a bottle cap or can top in your pocket from every drink you have. Forgetting to take them out at the end of the night could present a problem.

So, without further ado, I present a functionally elegant bottle opener with the precise how-many-drinks-have-I-had-tonight counter built right in. It helps open the bottles and, as long as you can read the digital lcd display, tells you exactly how many drinks you have had.

Beer Tracker Bottle Opener, Spilsbury.com

Remember Atari?

Talk about a blast from the past, the 30th Anniversary AtariĀ® Retro Set . Wasn't this like one of the first video games?

I remember playing Pong and I thought it was easy until it started speeding up. Don't laugh, I didn't grow up with a controller attached to my hands like most kids today. This retro set would be a perfect nostalgic gift for a family who's into gaming, it might give mom and dad an even playing field.

A Personalized Leather Flyswatter

Yes, that's what I said, A Personalized Leather Flyswatter . It's Italian bridle leather that has a hand crafted American Oak handle, all bound together by a leather lanyard. To top it off, you can get it engraved!

So who and for what would this be a great gift idea?
  • A humorous but practical groomsman gift
  • The hard to buy for who is wealthy
  • The person who has everything (you can bet they don't have this)
  • A gag gift for pretty much anybody.
  • To dad if he does lots of outside grilling, he can swat those flies in style.
  • Someone who is retiring, flies tend to gather on things that stay still.
  • A housewarming gift
Too funny! Thanks Beth.

Cows and More Cows

I love animated movies, especially talking animal movies so in honor of the new movie "Barnyard" here's lots of fun cow gift ideas.

So really what brings this up is, in watching the commercials for Barnyard you may have noticed something a little off...Otis (male name), the main character is a cow, a cow with very prominent utters. Kevin James from "King of Queens" does his voice (male). And his cow friends all seem to have really deep voices too. Maybe I'm missing something but that just isn't right, funny but not right!
