Gift Wizard Makeover

From the Design and Development teams...

Last week we gave our Gift Wizard interface a much needed makeover.

We modified the menuing system and placed check-box options on the right hand side to tune your search with relevant category and occasion selections. For those of you familiar with the previous interface, these changes should be very apparent, and hopefully in a good way.

We want to draw more users to those right hand options so that they will experience the best search and gift result set possible. Trimming the result set and targeting more relevant gifts for the recipient can only lead to the best ideas possible, right?

We invite you to try out our updated Gift Wizard and let us know what you think. Is it good? Bad? Easy to use or a hindrance? Please let us know!

When Pigs Fly

We all know and have probably used this phrase. Now there's a figurine to express this sentiment. You can even dress him up to reflect the current holiday.

Dress Up Flying Pig

If you know someone who says this phrase often, then get them one of these. It will save them having to actually say it, they can just point at the pig.

Thanks Anne!

25 Shopping Days until Father's Day

Here's some more gift ideas for Father's Day.

I'm getting the A.D.D t-shirt for my ex-husband (don't ask). Sometimes he drives me nuts, his excuse is he thinks he has A.D.D, I say he's getting old and senile. I'll just let him believe what he wants.

Get an Ego Pump with Your Breakfast!

Did you wake up this morning feeling a little down because you got stood up last night? Don't despair, the Complimentary Cereal Bowls will give you that boost in your self esteem to help you get through the day.

The "Chicks Dig You!" bowl reads, "You're the Man! You're Handsome! You're Strong! You're Charming!"

The "You're a Goddess" bowl reads, "You're beautiful! You're amazing! You're Brilliant! Everyone loves you! You're a Goddess!"

If these don't work and you keep getting stood up, you may want to consult a professional. Clinton and Stacy of "What Not to Wear" are always performing what seem to be total miracles on each episode. Maybe they can help.

DIY Holograms

This is cool!

LitiHolo Hologram Kit

A complete kit to make instant holograms without chemicals or developing. It says it takes about an hour. You can also get Star Wars figures to make holograms with, something any Star Wars buff just can't do without.

I bet Eric Foreman (70's show) would have about 20 of the Princess Leia holograms all around his room. I vaguely remember seeing the episode where Donna dressed up as Princess Leia and he was all excited by the buns on her ears.

FYI for trivia lovers:

Dennis Gabor, a Hungarian physicist, discovered and invented Holography in 1947. He also won a Nobel prize for this discovery.

Beth found this one, thanks!

30 Shopping Days until Father's Day

Dear ole dad, what do you get him for Father's Day?

Does he like to fish? Then the Fishing Lures Club of the Month is a pretty cool idea.

Does he cook on the grill? Here's a platter just for him, the Burnt By Dad Platter .

Play Golf? A funny golf club head cover, "He is the Beach" would be a good conversation piece for the golf course.

Does dad tinker around in the garage all the time? Here's the perfect sign for him, A Man's Home is His Castle Metal Sign . It will remind everyone who's the king and what he is the king of.

Stay tuned for more Father's Day gift ideas.

Swiss Army Knife with a USB Drive?

At first this seemed a little odd to me. Anne said it could be for the MacGyver wannabes. Wannabes being the key word here.

Swiss Army Knife with USB Memory

Most guys who would know what to do with a USB drive probably wouldn't know what to do with a Swiss army knife. However, this one has the perfect tools for those types of folks, a file to keep those nails at perfect length for pounding those keys, a screwdriver tip for taking the cases off the computers, tiny scissors for cutting cable ties, and the light to see behind the computers.

Now I know there are those guys who are well rounded, Mr. Fix Its and geeky computer guys rolled into one. In fact, Gary, our VP of Technology is one of those guys. It has just been my experience he is the exception. Others in the office however...well, we won't go there.

Anyway, cool gift idea!

Childhood Memories

So Anne sends me this idea and says, "I'm afraid to ask who'd use this to attract what, but..."

Play-Doh Scented Cologne

I'm afraid to ask too, but I know I used to love the smell of Play-Doh. I remember opening the can and just smelling it before pulling it out and creating a wonderful piece of art. I think one of my brothers even tried eating it, don't remember if he got sick or not. Anyway, if you want to bring back childhood memories or drive everyone crazy trying to remember what that smell is, (note I did not say scent), spritz on a little of this cologne.

If you try it, I would be interested in knowing what you attract.

Thanks Anne!

Things That Make Us Laugh

I don't care how prim and proper people try to be, these would make anyone laugh! Check out the:

That's just like things that make pooting noises. I don't know exactly what is so funny about it but it always seems to get a laugh. I made the mistake of buying my husband one of those remote control Fart Machines. He has gone as far as to be walking with me in the grocery store and set it off just as I bend over to get something off a bottom shelf. Of course he makes sure there are lots of people around. Everybody acts like they didn't hear it but you know down inside they want to bust out laughing.

These are the kinds of things I live with everyday, my husbands a real character, and the folks at work are quickly catching up with him. I need to come up with some real good pranks to get even with some of them. If anybody has some really good ideas for clean, fun and harmless pranks I'd love to hear them!

Tame Your Husband

Have you seen those dog collars that give a little shock everytime they bark? It's a training tool. Wouldn't it be a great training tool for husbands? (With a few minor upgrades and adjustments.) Below is a perfect example of when this would be the perfect device to break a bad habit.

True Story! ( I won't mention names to protect the innocent)
A guy in the office came home late from work Friday night due to the fact that he wanted to go have a beer with buddies. His wife had called earlier and wanted to know what he wanted for dinner, (wasn't that thoughtful!). When he didn't come home at his usual time she just figured he was working. Poor thing works so hard all the time. What a surprise when he comes home late and she finds out he wasn't working.

You could program the "shocker" with a particular schedule and if the schedule has to be changed a phone has to be dialed to do so. It could be programmed with zones that are off limits, or whatever bad habit you would like to break. If any schedules missed or zones breached they would get a "shock". Nothing severe, just enough to make them not want to get that feeling again.

I know this has nothing to do with gift ideas, just thought it was funny!

Potential Suitors Beware!

Want to make sure potential suitors know what could happen if they cross you. This knife block will definitely get the message across.

The Ex Voodoo Kitchen Knife Block

I have a couple of girlfriends that this would be a good gift for. They always seem to attract the "bad for them" guys. With this prominently displayed in their kitchen these guys can see up front that this girl is no one to mess with.

If you use your imagination this could also be a great therapy tool!

It's Really a Flask...

It's a cell phone... It's a football keychain... It's binoculars...

No it's really a flask. So the next time you see someone with their mouth around their cell phone or they are looking through their binoculars with their mouth, you will know what they are really doing.

This is one of those things that once you are made aware of it, you are always going to be on the look out for it. So at the next baseball or football game you attend see how many incognito flask you spot.

Actually, these make great Best Man and Groomsmen gifts.

Flip Flops, Making a Fashion Statement

When I was growing up, flip flops were just these things you wore for comfort and ease at the beach or around the pool. They were not fashionable, just rubber flops to keep your feet from burning in the sand.

Today, they are a major fashion statement. There are hundreds of styles and they are appropriate foot attire for almost any occasion. Girls are wearing them with their $400 Prom dresses and brides are even wearing them with their thousands of dollars wedding dresses.

FindGift.com is the place if you are looking for unique flip flops. We also have items with a flip flop theme like coasters, candles and more.

Here's to a much more fashionable summer!

Cheese Cake and more Cheese Cake

When I was thinking about what great gift idea to write about all that kept coming to mind was food, sweet desserts and chocolate. I guess I am hungry this morning.

I used the Gift Wizard and in my search ended up on the page with cheese cakes (one of my favorites). We've got chocolate fudge, cappuccino, chocolate chip, double chocolate swirl, turtle, chocolate amaretto, and triple chocolate raspberry cheese cakes.

Do you think that would take care of my chocolate craving?

Hint: I would love some for Mother's Day and there's still time to order.

Chew By Numbers Tulips

I'm sure everyone remembers the Paint by Numbers kits, well here's a new twist on it.

Chew by Numbers Tulip Kit

You chew up bubble gum then you take the wads and mash them into this "beautiful" picture of a tulip. Don't you think that would be a great Mother's Day gift? I'm sorry, but only a mother could even think of loving a gift like that.

"Here's your Mother's Day gift mom! I made it all by myself, slobber and all!"

Thanks Anne, you topped yourself with this one!
